Brewhouse at Whistler (Whistler, British Columbia)

The Brewhouse at Whistler, 4355 Blackcomb Way, Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. It is located in the Whistler Village and easy to walk to while strolling around the village (from bar to bar or shopping). I always sit in the Bar side, the restaurant is on the left when you enter. This is a great place to come after a day of skiing or shopping or just for the hell of it. In the bar they have a pool table and numberous TV'S usually with sports on. They have a beautiful wood burning fireplace, and the seats near it are usually taken up quite fast. Hanging from the ceiling thay have a train that runs aound the pub and resturant. How cool is that! Companies pay to have their advertising on the side of the train cars. I always have enjoyed the atmosphere in this place. Everyone is friendly and having a good time. Every time that I have eaten here the food is very good and the service is very good as well. They brew their own beer on premise, but not being a beer drinker I can't comment on that. The wine is always good, hahaha! This place is very busy when the Vancouver Canucks are on TV! I have been here several times and I will be back again!

Baron's Manor Pub (Surrey, British Columbia)

Baron's Manor Pub 9568-192 Street, Surrey, B.C.. This is a really cool place, that just opened up fairly recently. It has a stunning view of the North Shore mountains. It is located in the industrial area called Port Kell's in north east Surrey, and is steeped in folklore! There are two levels and two out side patios one on the main floor on the west side with a fireplace, the other on the second floor on the east side. Lots of old pictures, decorations and antiques through out. I had read a couple of reviews that were not very favourable of this place, but I must say my experience was very positive! The food was great. My wife had the goulash with a big pretzel and it was very, very good. I had the schnitzel burger and fries, and it too was very, very good. There are 12 different types of beer on tap. As for the wine, their house wine is Domiane de Chaberton, which is one of my favorite wines and is made in south Langley, B.C.. The wine is served by the glass, 1/4 litre carafe, 1/2 litre carafe or by the bottle. My wife didn't like their choice of music, I think she would have wanted Lady Gaga.....me...no Lady Gaga, I thought the music was just fine. There are numerous Samsung LCD TVS through out for watching your favorite game. There are no gambling games such as pull tabs or keno, but that is ok. I think that they have done a great job with this place and look forward to coming here again and again!!

The Buck & Ear Bar and Grill (Steveston, British Columbia)

The Buck and Ear Bar and Grill, 12111-3rd Avenue, (Steveston) Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. The Buck & Ear is located in Steveston, which is a part of Richmond, and was originally a fishing/ canning village. It is very close to the docks where many fishing vessels are tied up, as well as many nice shops and restaurants. This bar was established in 1895, and I think has one of the nicest interiors I have been in. The out side doesn't look like much but once you walk in the doors it is fabulous. There is so much to like about this place, there is ample seating and seats well over 200 people. There are booths, tables and chairs and nooks, you name it. The bar it self is gorgeous and has so much detail to it. There is a room with 2 pool tables along with bar stools, a couple of tables and chairs (I mean nice comfortable chairs). This room also has 8 old theater fold up seats along the wall. This is also one of the nicest pool rooms I have seen! They have numerous TVS through out, as well as keno and pull tabs. The food is another reason to come here. I had the Pulled Pork Kaiser sandwich, coleslaw and fries. It was very good My mother in law had the Eggs Benedict and pan fried potatoes, she described her meal as "Fantastic!". My wife had the halibut fish tacos and again two thumbs up. I have been here previously and had the Halibut and chips which I also recommend. The service is quick and friendly! This place has really made a mark on my list of favorite places to go and it is very near the top. You really have to go and try it out soon!

Slainte By the Pier Irish Restaurant and Bar (White Rock, British Columbia)

Slainte By the Pier, Contemporary Irish Restaurant and Bar, 15057 Marine Drive, White Rock, British Columbia Canada. Slainte has a fabulous location, it is right on Marine Drive across from the Pier, in White Rock over looking Semiahmoo Bay in the Pacific Ocean! They have a great view of the water from the patio, inside the bar or in the second floor loft area. They have been open for about 6 months now and things are going well. One of the owners, "Jack" is from Ireland, but this place doesn't have a strong Irish feel to it. Maybe it is because the bar and tables are all ash coloured, I don't know. They have a good menu with a good variety of items. I had the Cottage Pie, I couldn't give it a 10 out of 10. I would have to say 6 1/2 out of 10 on that. I still enjoyed it! My Wife had the bouillabaisse and it was full of fresh fish, prawns, Gala mussels, scallops, fennel, carrots and leeks. She said that it was very good! I tried hers and it was fantastic! The bar it self sits about 8 people and looked very comfortable. I liked the loft area up stairs, it would be perfect for a group of friends or co-workers to meet. You are a way from the rest of the place as to not bother everyone else. The one main set back here would be in the summer time, trying to get parking. White Rock has pay parking at the beach, it is $4.00 for 2 hours, and if it is nice good luck getting a spot close to here. They use local produce, beer, wine and musicians! Not a big chain restaurant, locally owned and run. I will come back for sure. Next time I think I may try the Steak and Guinness pie, or maybe the bouillabaisse.

Alger Bar and Grill (Alger, Washington)

Alger Bar and Grill, 1758 Old Highway 99, Alger, Washington. It is just east of Interstate 5 at exit 240. It is just north about 10 minutes from Burlington and south of Bellingham by about 20 minutes. You will come to a four way stop and there it is on the corner. Right across the street is a motel and RV camping, how convenient!! This was recommend to my by Pubpals! So I met him at the Alger. The sit up bar has about 10 stools. It is kind of your typical small town US bar. Most of the seating is in booths that seat 4. They do have some tables and chairs. There are 2 pool tables and a couple of dart boards. The washrooms .....hhmmmm....could use a good scrub down. Having said all that the serivce was really good and very friendly. The food specialty is Fried Chicken, and I had to have it. It came with a breast/ rib, thigh, drum stick, full wing (all large pieces), coleslaw and choice of fries of Jojo potatoes. I had the Jojo's. The fried chicken was great!! Wifey had the brocolli and cheese soup (big bowl I may add) and she said it was very good. The prices were very reasonable. My meal was $9.95 and I couldn't finish it all!! If your are looking for good food and a drink, this place is worth a try. Keep in mind it ain't one of those fancy big city places!! If you are looking for fancy, this might not be fore you!!

O'hares Pub and Bistro (Steveston, British Columbia)

Ohare's Pub and Bistro, 5031 Steveston Hwy., Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. This great pub is just off (about 5 minutes west) Hwy 99 as you go north through the Massey Tunnel towards Vancouver. It is an Irish themed pub with excellent food. They have several great pub pies, ploughman's lunches and the burgers can't be beat. They have numerous types of beer on tap!! The atmosphere in here is always good, everyone is having a good time. The pub has two areas. When you enter the pub you are in the main area and to the right is a second area (my favorite). The second area has a nice bay window seating area that can hold about 8 people. This area its self holds about 25-30 people. They have dart boards and a long bar that runs along the north side of the pub. Very often you will see the owner Jack around the pub. There is lots of parking but it fills up fast, so get there early. If you are there for lunch by 1130 you will have good seats and parking. The evenings, don't wait too late either. They have an outside patio that wraps around the north west corner and faces the front parking lot. In the summer it is always busy. In the winter you still see people huddled around the gas heaters. I have been here many times and I will come again many times. I have never been disappointed when at O'hare's Pub!! Not only do I recommend going here, but many friends also support my views on this great pub.

Station House Bar & Grill (Abbotsford, British Columbia)

Station House Bar and Grill, 3122 Station Road (276 Street) Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. It is located across the street from Aldergrove. The Station opened 3 years ago as a restaurant but has been changing over to a Bar and Grill. The change over should be completed in January 2010. It has been an up hill struggle with the City of Abbotsford to make it a bar, but after two years they have succeeded. This place is huge, when they are finished the transformation half will be a restaurant and the other half will be a bar. We sat in the bar side, but it still had that country restaurant feel to it. Oak tables and chairs, with lots of turn of the century pictures on the walls. The TV's are going to be upgraded soon to flat screen's. It was pretty quiet when we were in for lunch on a Saturday. They also have a very nice room that you can rent and I would guess it holds about 50-75 people. They have a nice sit up bar that seats 20 people. The food was very good, I had a burger and it was made with fresh ground beef. My wife had the Thai wrap and she too said it was very good. Every thing was very clean and tidy and that includes the washrooms. I hope all goes well for them!
