Don Mai Tai Bar (Kona, Hawaii, U.S.A.)

Don Mai Tai Bar, 75-5752 Ali'i Drive, Kahlua-Kona, Hawaii, U.S.A..  Located in the Royal Kona Resort and open to the public not just guests.  This resort is right in the heart of Kona, right on a spit of land that just out in to the ocean and the bar as at the tip of that piece of land. The bar is a granite surface, 20 person semi circle sit-up bar.  All of the seats have a view of the ocean. on the backside of the bar right on the ocean are several tables right along the curved wall over looking the ocean.  We had a table right in the middle and is the best seat in the house with an awesome view of the ocean and the sunset!! The is claimed to be the home of the Original Mai Tai, at least the original founder back in 1933. There are 3 large flat screen TV's if you so choose to watch TV.  There are 8 types of beer on tap, good wine and hard liquor selection.  I did notice that the Mai Tai's were flying out of here.  Food that we had here was the Coconut Prawns, very good.  The thin crust Pizza was good too!  Happy hourfrom 4 to 6, klive music in the evenings.  A must do when in Kona, you will really like it here!!!

Lava Lava Beach Club Kulaikai, (Waikoloa Village, Hawaii, U.S.A.)

Lava Lava Beach Club Kulaikai, 69-1081 Ku'uali'i Place, Waikoloa Village, Hawaii, U.S.A..  Another great relaxing place with an awesome view!  Same owners as the Lava Lava Beach Club in Kauai.  Open on 3 sides and located right on the beach, it has a 10 person sit-up bar.  The main part of the bar is covered from the sun and if it ever rains.  This area is 4 steps up from the lower part towards the beach.  The lower part is half covered by the roof with tables and chairs.  The uncovered portion has tables with permanent, nice big umbrellas.  Beyond that are nice wicker style chairs and tables right on the sand, steps from the water, with a few palm trees and surrounded by Tiki torches. The main area has seating from 2 people right up to the long table for 18 people.  There are 18 different types of beer on tap and a good wine selection too!  We didn't eat here so I can't tell you much bout the food.  The service is good and nice and friendly.  The servers all wear company t-shirts with palm trees on them.  Love this place, so relaxing, with no other business's or places right near by.  They have their own parking lot for their guests.  It is just north of Kona and well worth going to, you to will love it!!

Seafood Bar and Grill (Kawaihae, Hawaii, U.S.A.)

Seafood Bar nad Grill, 61-3642 Kalwaihae Road, Kawaihae, Hawaii, U.S.A. What a great find!  North of Kona bout 45 minute drive, give or take. Located on the second floor looking towards the ocean.  There is a catch, there is a port here and across the street are 3 large oil storage tanks.  I don;'t know how ling they have been here but look fairly new.  They bar has  large sign, "Tanks a Lot".  The bar here is beautiful, nice wood and beautifully finished.  It sits 25 people and runs almost the length of the bar.  This place is long and narrow so all the tables run along the window and there are 9 seating 4.  Outside is a small narrow patio area with  10 tables of 4 or 2 people.  The entire bar has a Hawaiian theme with bamboo, woven palms, Tiki masks, lights and a few nautical things including surf boards mounted. For lunch I had the Grilled Beef Burger, with Wasabi Ailoi sauce and fries.  It was an amazingly good burger.. Fresh and juicy, I have been to so called gourmet burger places and they don't even come close to how good this burger was.  My lunch partner had the Coconut Shrimp that is crispy (large jumbo shrimp) with li hing mui pina colda sauce and it to was very good.  It was quite busy at lunch which is  very good sign!  I loved it here, and if you ever get a chance to make it here, try this place out you will love it|!!!
